NEWS AND SIGNIFICANT EVENTS:

1. On June 16th at 1630z Radio communications were established between USS The Sullivans DD537 (NNN0NLR) and USS The Sullivans DDG68 (NSUL) on the Navy frequency of 7.382.5 Mhz. We believe this is the first time in Naval History that two Navy ships bearing the same name have comms with each other. Fifty plus years after being the first US Naval ship ever named after more than one person, USS The Sullivans is still making Naval History!

2. I have started a collection of Photos (Photo Page) of our ships and shipmates. If you have any at work photos of the ships please let me know. I'll be happy to include them in the Photo Gallery. Thanks!

3. Don't forget, the 23rd reunion of the Association will be held in Buffalo, NY in early September 2009.

These are copies of the messages that signaled the beginning and the end of the Second World War!

If you are a former "Brass Pounder" or still at it on the ham bands (and if you have the time to download 1.21MB) you may want to try the 20 wpm CW Test before you read this copy of a cw message. Imagine copying this in the heat of battle! (Test portions highlighted in yellow)
